The Coalition for the Prevention of Alcohol Problems Meets with Treasury Department on Alcohol Excise Taxes

As a member of the Coalition for the Prevention of Alcohol Problem, LCAT and other CPAP member organizations met with Treasury Department officials on May 14, 2003 to express concerns about the harmful economic and public health implications of proposals to reduce federal excise taxes on beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Participants urged the administration to oppose reductions in federal excise taxes on beer and other alcoholic beverages.

Organizations represented at the meeting included the Center for Science in the Public Interest, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, the National Association of African Americans for Positive Imagery, the Consumer Federation of America and LCAT.
