HOTEL ACCOMMODATIONS
Participants
must arrange their own accommodations. A block of rooms has
been reserved at the Caribe Hilton for the dates of 9/14/05
- 9/19/05. Conference participants will receive a special
rate of $125.00 for Traditional Single/Double Occupancy and
$145.00 for Executive Floor Single/Double Occupancy. Room
rates are subject to 9% government tax and 6% resort fee (subject
to change). There will be a separate gratuity fee of $4.50
per person (round trip). This includes Bellman and Maid Services.

1(800) 468-8585 or by fax (787) 724-6992. In order to receive
the special conference rate, please reference the
National Latino Council on Alcohol and Tobacco Prevention:
4th Annual Conference. Rates cannot be changed at
check in or check out for guests that fail to identify their
affiliation with the conference at the time the reservation
is requested.

The room block will
be reserved until 8/22/05. Reservation requests received after
the reservation cut off date, or after the room block is full,
will be accepted on a space available and rate available basis.

Developing
a Winning Proposal: This workshop is geared
for individuals who have already developed an organization
strategic plan and/or who have had general grant writing training
prior to this workshop. The topics to be covered during this
workshop are:
the key
components of the proposal;
proposal
checklist and evaluation;
secrets
of success; where proposals fail and
the
importance of details, directives and deadlines.
Time will be allocated
for small group discussion of proposal development.
NOTE: Please
bring actual proposal ideas with supporting information as
this data will be used to develop proposal narratives by attendees.

WORKSHOP -- New!
Increasing
the Utilization of the Puerto Rico Quitline through Outreach:
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants
should be able to have a broader understanding on the impact
of tobacco use in public health and the best practice in tobacco
cessation intervention using a quitline. They will also learn
about the smoking cessation project in Puerto Rico, which
promotes the quitline ¡Dejalo ya!
through outreach. Participants will be updated on the demographic
and epidemiological profiles of Puerto Rico quitline callers.
